HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University volleyball standout Kim Nemcek has earned All-Midwest Region honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Nemcek, a junior middle hitter from Geneva, Ill., led NKU with 455 kills this season and posted a Great Lakes Valley Conference-best 3.89 kills per set. The 5-foot-11 Nemcek also attacked at a .317 clip and led the Norse with 95 total blocks.

In addition, Nemcek served up 34 aces and recorded 266 digs as NKU posted a 20-12 record. The Norse also extended their streak of consecutive 20-win seasons to 17.

Nemcek is now eligible for AVCA All-America honors. A year ago, three NKU players – Natalie Forbes, Kristina Eisenmenger and Kelsey Wesaw – were named All-Americans by the AVCA.

Nemcek also was named to the Daktronics All-Midwest Region second team on Tuesday. The Daktronics team is selected by sports information directors, while the AVCA team is voted upon by coaches.
