WILDER, Ky. – Kendall Day scored a pair of goals Friday as the Northern Kentucky University women's soccer team won its 12th consecutive game by downing Indianapolis, 3-0, in the semifinals of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament.

Caitlyn Mueller assisted on Day's two scores and also added a second-half goal for top-seeded NKU, which improved to 17-2 and avenged a 2-1 loss to Indianapolis earlier this season. Since dropping that decision to the Greyhounds on Sept. 20, the Norse have reeled off 12 consecutive victories.

The longest winning streak in NKU women's soccer history is 17, set in 2001. NKU is now 14-3-1 all-time against Indianapolis (15-5).

Rachael Wood collected the shutout for the Norse, who are ranked 10th nationally in the NCAA Division II poll. NKU is second in the latest NCAA Division II Midwest Region poll.

Day struck less than four minutes into the contest by drilling a shot past Indianapolis goalie Shae Morris to give NKU a 1-0 lead. Day made it 2-0 at the 62:38 mark by finishing off a shot that was assisted by Mueller.

Day, a junior from Lakota East High School, has nine goals this season.

Mueller capped the scoring at the 85:35 mark by heading in a shot off a corner kick by Laura Painter. It was the first goal of the season for Mueller, a junior defender from Mercy High School in Cincinnati. Painter, a sophomore from Highlands High School, finished with two assists Friday.

NKU will meet Quincy - a 1-0 winner against Bellarmine in Friday's other semifinal - at 1 p.m. Sunday for the GLVC Tournament championship at the Town & Country Sports Complex.

NKU has won six GLVC Tournament championships, the last one coming in 2005.
