INDIANAPOLIS – It's deja vu all over again as the Northern Kentucky University men's soccer team will travel to face Drury in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Tournament, the NCAA office announced on Monday night.
Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. Eastern on Friday. Live stats will be available at nkunorse.com.
The winner of Friday's game will advance to the Midwest Regional championship game to meet the winner between Ashland and Lewis, who face off in Friday's second semifinal match. Sunday's championship game is scheduled for 2 p.m. Eastern.
NKU met Drury in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament championship game, with Drury getting a goal late in the second half to win, 1-0. NKU was victorious in the regular-season meeting between the teams, with
Braden Bishop and
Steven Beattie notching goals in a 2-1 win.
NKU enters its fourth NCAA Tournament in team history and has won the last three Midwest Region championships. Last year, NKU advanced to the national semifinals before falling to Dowling by a 2-1 score.
