NKU's Moore, Kearns elected for induction into GLVC Hall of Fame in 2010

INDIANAPOLIS – Former Northern Kentucky University women's soccer player Betsy Moore and retired faculty athletics representative Dr. Tom Kearns have been selected for induction into the Great Lakes Valley Conference Hall of Fame.

In addition, former Lewis basketball player Larry Tucker and former Southern Illinois at Edwardsville softball player Jenny Esker were also selected for induction into the GLVC Hall of Fame.

Moore led NKU to four GLVC championships from 1998-2001 and three trips to the NCAA Division II Final Four. The speedy forward scored a school-record 70 goals during her career en route to a total of 186 points. Moore led NKU to an 81-10-5 overall record in four years and to a 31-2-5 GLVC mark.

Moore tallied 21 goals in 1999 as NKU advanced to the Final Four for the first time in history. A three-time NSCAA first team All-American, Moore led NKU to the 2000 national championship game. She was also named GLVC Freshman of the Year in 1998 as well as GLVC Player of the Year twice (1999, 2001).

Kearns was a member of the NKU Athletic Council for 27 years and served as the school's faculty athletics representative at GLVC and NCAA functions. He also authored many reports concerning the athletics program and certified the eligibility of every NKU athlete for 23 years.

Kearns also served as president of the GLVC during his career. Kearns spearheaded the league's first major expansion in 1995 as president and assisted the league in transitioning from a part-time to full-time commissioner. He developed the current legislation-voting document and edited the GLVC constitution and bylaws following each league meeting.

The 2010 GLVC Hall of Fame class will be honored at the Enterprise Rent-A-Car GLVC Spring Awards Banquet in St. Louis on May 25.
