The NSCAA released the final women's soccer poll on Tuesday, and NKU finished eighth in the rankings. The Norse finished the 2009 campaign 19-2-1 and won the GLVC Tournament en route to a berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament.
The Norse advanced to the NCAA Division II Midwest Region championship game in Denver, Colorado. In the regional title game, the Norse played to a scoreless draw with eventual national champion Grand Valley State but fell 5-4 in the penalty-kick shootout.
This is the 10th time in the 13-year history of the program that the Norse have finished in the Top 25 in the final NSCAA poll. The No. 8 ranking in 2009 marks the seventh time the Norse have finished in the final poll's Top 10.
