BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – The Northern Kentucky University women's golf team opened its 2009-10 season with a seventh-place finish at the Bulldog Women's Invitational at Katke Golf Course.
The Norse shot 66-over-par (326-316—642) in the 36-hole event, 45 strokes behind the tournament winners Grand Valley State (301-296—597).
NKU was led by
Lyndsey Bevill (79-75—154), who shot 10-over-par on the event. Bevill returns for her senior season after representing the Norse at the NCAA Championships last spring.
Hannah Lindauer (82-78—160) took a share of 24th place, while freshmen
Elizabeth Nebraski (84-79—163) in 29th place and
Rachel Brown (81-84—165) in 38th place rounded out the team scoring.
Other NKU performers included
Nicole Hess (88-86—174),
Danielle Lickert (94-100—194) and
Veronica Ruschman (92-102—194).
Lyndsay McBride of Indianapolis took the medal at 1-over-par (73-72—145).
NKU returns to the course on Sept. 14 at the Drury Invitational in Springfield, Mo.
