QUINCY, Ill. - At home or on the road, Northern Kentucky University has Quincy University's number in women's soccer.

NKU, which defeated Quincy three times last season at home, turned the trick against the host Hawks on Sunday with a 1-0 overtime victory. Amanda Mason's goal at the 103:22 mark in the second overtime gave NKU the win. Mason's five-yard shot in the box was set up off a pass from Megan Smith.

NKU, ranked 23rd nationally in the NCAA Division II poll, improved to 10-1-1 overall, 9-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse also extended their winning streak to five.

NKU handed Quincy (8-2-3 overall, 6-1-3 GLVC) its first GLVC loss and made the competition for the No. 1 seed in the upcoming GLVC Tournament a two-team race between the Norse and league-leading Wisconsin-Parkside. A year ago, NKU posted three one-goal victories against Quincy.

The victory was the 229th for NKU head coach Bob Sheehan, who is in his 14th season with the Norse.
