The NKU softball team split a non-conference doubleheader at Urbana.

URBANA, Ohio –
Chelsie Roy fired a two-hit shutout in the second game Wednesday as the Northern Kentucky University softball team salvaged a doubleheader split against Urbana with a 2-0 victory.
Roy struck out eight batters, equaling her career high, as NKU improved to 22-11 overall.
Jamie Raabe collected a run-scoring single in the fourth inning to give NKU a 1-0 lead, and
Emily Schwaeble added insurance with an RBI double in the fifth.
In the opener, Urbana pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh inning on a passed ball to post a 3-2 win against NKU. Norse pitcher
April Ehlers struck out the first two batters of the seventh inning, but Chelsea Riley singled and later advanced to third on a double by Brooke Shultz. Riley then scored the winning run on a passed ball.
Urbana is 10-19 overall after the split.
Ehlers had tied the game at 2-all in the sixth inning with a two-run double.
Rose Broderick was 2-for-4 in the opener for the Norse, who finished with nine hits in the first game.
NKU returns home to meet defending regional champion Indianapolis at noon Saturday in a Great Lakes Valley Conference showdown. NKU is 12-3 in the GLVC. Indianapolis is 26-11 overall, 16-4 in the GLVC.
NKU concludes the weekend by hosting Saint Joseph's at noon Sunday. The Pumas are currently 21-14 overall, 8-8 in the GLVC. NKU seniors

Sam Del Vecchio will be recognized on Sunday as a part of Senior Day festivities.
NKU is currently No. 6 in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region poll, and Indianapolis is ranked No. 5.
