SOMERS, Wis. – The Northern Kentucky University softball team used a six-run outburst in the fourth inning to key its 7-3 victory against Wisconsin-Parkside in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday.
In the nightcap, Wisconsin-Parkside gained a split by posting a 7-0 victory against NKU. The Norse are now 27-14, 17-6 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Wisconsin-Parkside is 21-17, 12-12 in the GLVC.

Rose Broderick each drove in two runs during NKU's fourth-inning rally in the opener. Raabe collected a two-run single that tied the game at 3-all, and West later doubled in two runs to give NKU a 5-3 advantage.
Broderick followed West's double with a two-run homer to extend the Norse lead to 7-3 and cap the fourth-inning outburst. Broderick, a senior second baseman from Oak Hills High School, upped her NKU career-record home run total to 21. It was her fifth homer of the season.

April Ehlers overcame a slow start and picked up her 12th win of the season. She struck out eight batters and allowed just two hits during the final six innings.
Wisconsin-Parkside avoided the sweep in the nightcap as pitcher Kallie Walczak struck out 15 NKU batters while hurling a perfect game. The Rangers plated five runs in the fifth inning to extend a 2-0 lead into a 7-0 advantage and coasted behind Walczak's no-hit performance.
NKU is scheduled to conclude the road trip Sunday with a doubleheader at Lewis. NKU is ranked seventh in the latest NCAA Division II Midwest Region poll.
