ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Jeff Bohlen went 4-for-6 and drove in five runs during the second game Saturday as Northern Kentucky University salvaged a split of a doubleheader against Lewis with a 17-12 victory.

Jason Cisper added three doubles and scored twice for NKU, which improved to 21-10 overall, 10-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Evan McDole added a key three-run double in the top of the ninth inning for the Norse, who had dropped the first three games of the weekend series against Lewis, including a 10-5 decision in Saturday's opener.

Bohlen launched a two-run homer in the second inning of the nightcap as NKU scored eight times to take an 8-0 lead. The Norse added two more runs in the third to extend their advantage to 10-0. Bohlen added a solo homer in the fourth inning, his third of the season.

Lewis fought back and eventually cut the NKU lead to 13-12 going into the top of the ninth inning. NKU then loaded the bases for McDole, who drove a double down the right-field line to clear the bases and extend the Norse lead to 16-12.

Pat Muth went 2-for-5 and drove in two runs for NKU, which is ranked 19th nationally in the NCAA Division II poll. Kevin Jordan pitched 1 2/3 innings and collected the save.

In the first game, Lewis used a five-run outburst in the third inning to key its 10-5 victory. Brian Norwood hit a three-run homer to cap the third inning for the Flyers, who built an 8-2 lead and coasted to the win.

Brian Erie led the NKU offense in the opener by going 3-for-4 with three runs batted in. Erie also hit a two-run homer. Muth added three hits and drove in two runs.

NKU returns home and plays Saint Joseph's at 1 p.m. Monday in a GLVC doubleheader. That begins a stretch of 16 consecutive home games for the Norse.
