DUNCAN, Okla. - The Northern Kentucky University men's golf team is tied for fifth place after the opening round of play at the NCAA Division II Midwest/South Central Super Regional with a score of 296.
NKU, which captured the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships title this spring, is tied with Indianapolis and Dallas Baptist for fifth place. Wayne State is atop the team standings after finishing the first day with a score of 278 (-10) at the par-72 Territory Golf Club.
NKU's
Jones Brown is tied for 23rd place after shooting a 72 on Monday. The Norse's
Ryan Hines is tied for 28th with a score of 73.
The top five teams and the top two individuals not with a team from each regional (regardless of region) will advance to the finals May 18-21 at The Sagamore Club in Noblesville, Ind.
The 54-hole event continues Tuesday, and the final round is set for Wednesday.
