MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Northern Kentucky University baseball team was on both ends of a pair of blowouts against Montevallo to open the 2011 season. The No. 15 Norse took the opener, 15-7, but dropped the nightcap, 13-2.

Brent Wethington also had a solid showing, pitching 2 2/3 innings of one-hit relief with three strikeouts.
In the nightcap, a six-run third inning from the homestanding Falcons made the difference in the game, as Montevallo's Kyle Butler (1-0) picked up his first win of the season, scattering four hits over eight innings and striking out 10 Norse batters.
Justin Schultheiss (0-1) took the loss for NKU, giving up seven runs on five hits in his two innings of work.
