FLORENCE, Ky. –
Shannon McCormick went 2-for-4 and scored a pair of runs as the Northern Kentucky University baseball team posted a 6-2 victory over Urbana at Florence Freedom Field on Tuesday.
Junior left-hander
Jim Ryan (2-0) went five innings and picked up the win for NKU, which improved to 9-6 with the non-conference victory. The Norse snapped a 2-all tie in the bottom of the fifth inning when
Jake Morris singled home McCormick for a 3-2 lead.
NKU added a pair of unearned runs in the seventh inning to extend its lead to 5-2 and added an insurance run in the eighth.
Randy Weinel collected three hits for the Norse offense.

Blake Bagshaw combined for four innings of no-hit baseball. Urbana, which managed just five hits, dropped to 5-12 with the loss.
NKU hits the road Thursday for a non-conference game at Cedarville. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
The Norse play host to a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheaders this weekend, beginning Saturday at 3:30 p.m. when Drury visits Florence Freedom Field. On Sunday, NKU plays host to Missouri S&T at noon.
