HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University athletic director Scott Eaton has announced that Brian Nester has been hired as the men's and women's head tennis coach.

Nester, a resident of Edgewood, Ky., served as the director of tennis at Kenwood Country Club from 1997-2011. He was also the head professional and director of tennis at Five Seasons Sports Country Club from 1990-1997.

Nester is certified as a high performance coach by the United States Tennis Association. He has also served as president of the Greater Cincinnati Tennis Association.

“Brian has an excellent tennis background, and we are excited to have him as our tennis coach,” Eaton said. “He brings a great deal of tennis teaching and coaching knowledge that is going to benefit ourprogram as we make the move into the Atlantic Sun Conference and Division I.”

Nester replaces Geoff Crawford, who coached tennis at NKU for the past 22 years. Crawford began as the men's coach in 1990, and he was later appointed the women's head coach in 2001.

“I want to thank Geoff Crawford for his service to our university and our department,” Eaton said. “We decided that it was time to move in a different direction, and Brian is going to be a great addition to our program.”

NKU's men begin the spring season Feb. 4 with a match against top 10-ranked Abilene Christian. The Norse women start their season on Feb. 10 at Eastern Kentucky.
