DECATUR, Ala. – A dramatic two-out, two-run seventh-inning rally helped the Northern Kentucky University softball team secure a pair of wins in Day 1 action at the Charger Chillout.

Dee Dee Davis laced an RBI-double to right center field with two outs in the top of the seventh inning to give the Norse a 4-3 victory over Florida Tech in the nightcap on Friday.  Trailing 3-2 entering the frame, the rally started with a walk to Jessica FarrisMandi McQueen followed with a huge RBI-triple to plate Farris and tie the game and set up Davis' heroics.

Katelyn Roy got the offense started for the Norse in the fifth inning with her first collegiate home run, a towering shot to left field.  McQueen extended the lead to 2-0, reaching on an infield single before coming around on a Kaylin Steinmetz RBI-single.

Freshman Alex Caudill (1-0) got the win in the circle, scattering five hits and striking out four Panther batters in the contest.

A three-run rally in the seventh inning secured NKU's 6-2 victory over West Georgia in the early game.  McQueen went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three runs scored to drive the Norse offense.  Emily Schwaeble claimed a 3-for-4 performance, driving in three runs herself.

Caudill also claimed a multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Steinmetz was 1-for-3 with a triple and a run scored.

Schwaeble (1-0) got the win in the circle, fanning 11 West Georgia batters while surrendering two runs on six hits.

The Norse (2-0) return to action on Saturday, facing Wayne State (Mich.) and West Alabama.  Due to the threat of inclement weather, Saturday's first pitch against Wayne State has been moved up to 9:30 a.m. Eastern, with all other action adjusted accordingly.
