Regents Hall will be the place for Thursday's charity basketball game.
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University will open the doors to Regents Hall this Thursday (March 1) at 7:30 p.m. for a celebrity basketball game. Tickets cost $5 each at the door and every dollar raised will benefit Cystic Fibrosis research.
Former Xavier, Cincinnati and NKU basketball players, as well as Bengals and Reds alumni, have committed to play in the event. Among the more recognizable names are David Fulcher, James Brooks, Dave Collins (an outfielder during the Big Red Machine era), Stan Kimbrough (a Xavier standout) and Shannon Minor, a sharpshooting guard who led the Norse to back-to-back trips to the NCAA Division II national championship game in both 1996 and '97.
Zach Wells, a sports anchor/reporter at Local 12 News in Cincinnati, is organizing the event. "Having two children of my own, it has really made an impact on me to see the bravery that people with Cystic Fibrosis exhibit in battling CF. They have remarkable courage and it's been an honor to put this together in conjunction with NKU in hopes a cure is not far away," Wells said.
Reds public address announcer Joe Zerhusen will be behind the microphone for the event and there will be silent auction and raffle items, all to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. For updates on the game, you can visit "Zach Wells-WKRC" on Facebook or follow Zach on Twitter--@WellsZach.
