LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University softball team came from behind for the fourth time in the last eight games to post a 3-1 victory over Bellarmine and salvage a split in Tuesday's Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader.

Bellarmine got a 2-1 win in Game 1.  NKU is now 23-13 overall and 13-9 in GLVC play.

Emily Schwaeble hit her fourth home run of the season to tie Game 2 in the fourth inning and Dana Jarboe's RBI-single in the fifth inning, the first of her two hits in the game, put the Norse ahead for good.  Mandi McQueen added an insurance run in the sixth inning with an RBI-single.

Alex Caudill (7-8) got the win in the circle, scattering six hits while walking three and striking out two in six innings.  Schwaeble struck out two batters in the seventh to pick up her first save of the season.

Megan Murdoch's two run home run in the bottom of the first inning was all the scoring the Knights (22-18, 13-9 GLVC) would need in Game 1 as the Norse scattered eight hits but stranded eight runners in the loss.  Dee Dee Davis poked an RBI-single through the left side of the infield to plate Mandi McQueen in the third inning and cut the deficit in half.

The Norse put runners in scoring position in each of the game's final three innings but failed to push the tying run across.  The dagger came in the top of the seventh when Kaylin Steinmetz was cut down at the plate after Jessica Farris laced a two-out single up the middle.

McQueen had a 2-3 game and Farris was 2-4 on the contest.  Schwaeble (16-4) gave up just two hits and struck out nine in the hard-luck loss.

The Norse return home on Friday to open up a 12-game home stand against Lewis.  The Norse and Flyers last met on Sunday, with NKU sweeping a doubleheader with a pair of seventh-inning rallies.  First pitch is scheduled for noon.
