NKU meets Wayne State (Mich.) this Thursday in the NCAA Tournament.
INDIANAPOLIS – The Northern Kentucky University baseball team received an at-large berth to the NCAA Division II Tournament on Sunday night, and the fourth-seeded Norse will meet No. 3 seed Wayne State (Mich.) in the opening round Thursday.
NKU (35-20) and Wayne State (34-19) are part of the six-team field in the Midwest Regional, which will be held on the campus of Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Mich. The other matchups in the double-elimination tournament include top-seeded Indianapolis (42-14) against No. 6 seed Lewis (33-20), and No. 2 seed Grand Valley State (41-14) facing No. 5 seed Rockhurst (32-17).
NKU finished as Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament runner-up after dropping a 4-3 decision to Indianapolis on Sunday.
A total of 48 teams across eight regional sites will compete for the opportunity to advance to the NCAA Division II World Series, which will be held May 26-June 2 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C.
