YPSILANTI, Mich.- Anthony Campanella spun a three-hit shutout for Grand Valley State to post a 5-0 victory and eliminate the Northern Kentucky University baseball team from the NCAA Tournament on Saturday.

NKU concludes its final season in Division II with a record of 36-22.  The Norse will reclassify to Division I and compete as full members of the Atlantic Sun Conference beginning in 2013.

Campanella (8-2) struck out three batters and allowed just two Norse base runners to reach second base, and none after the fourth inning.

Mike Nastold suffered his only loss of the season, falling to 3-1 on the year, giving up five runs, only one of them earned, on four hits and five walks over 3.2 innings.  Brett Loeding fanned four batters in 4 .1 innings of relief for the Norse.

Jake Morris, Bradley Vanderglas and Brad Clement collected NKU's three hits, all singles.

Steve Anderson provided the difference maker in the fourth inning, driving a single to the gap in right center field to score Mike Nadrowski, who walked to lead off the inning.

Anderson struck again in the fifth inning with a three-run double to give Capmanella all the cushion he needed.  Anderson accounted for two of GVSU's five hits on the day.

Grand Valley advances to another elimination game on Saturday night against Rockhurst.  The winner of that game will take on Indianapolis for the regional championship on Sunday.
