GENEVA, Ohio –
Carolynn Dreyer had a busy and productive outing, helping break three school records, to lead the Northern Kentucky University women's track and field team at the SPIRE Midwest Open.
Dreyer set her first individual mark after placing sixth in the 600-meter race with a 1:42.69, breaking the former record, set in 2008 by Rose Morgan, by almost 10 seconds. Dreyer joined
Jaci Combs,
Nicole Riveron, and
Lindsay Mumley in placing third in the distance medley relay as Riveron clocked a 59-second split in the 400-meter section.
Dreyer also teamed up with Riveron, Combs, and
Alicia Follrod for the 4x400m relay to finish with a 4:16.17, which would earn the four a seventh-place finish. The time also set a new bar for the team, as the team crossed the line three seconds faster than the school record that Riveron,
Destany Martin, Dreyer and Follrod set at Kent State in December.
Riveron also set a personal best and improved on her school-record time in the 400m with a 1:00.61.
Emily Grubb had a personal best in the triple jump with a mark of 9.91m, which was good enough for sixth place. The performance also set NKU's school record as the first-ever attempt by a Norse jumper at the event.
Kayla Justice nearly eclipsed her personal best in the 3000-meter race with a 10:55.38. The time marked her best performance in the 3000-meter since the conference indoor championships last spring.
Tyler Thomas reached a new personal best mark of 1.65m (5-5) in the high jump. Her efforts saw her claim third place, which was her best finish of the season.
The Norse will return to action next weekend for the Cedarville Collegiate Invitational.
