EDISON, N.J. – The Northern Kentucky University women's tennis team lost a pair matches on the opening day of the National Invitation Tennis Tournament, falling to Texas-Pan American and New Jersey Institute of Technology by matching 7-0 scores.
 
Shana Kleynen was a bright spot in NKU's early match against Texas-Pan American (5-11), taking her No. 3 singles match against Wanda Beguelin to a third-set super tiebreaker before falling by a 10-3 score.
 
NJIT improved to 14-6 on the season with their win in the late contest, claiming each match in straight sets for the victory.
 
NKU (1-19) closes out the 2013 season on Sunday against Chicago State.  First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m.
