EVANSVILLE, Ind. – A 7-over par round for
Allison Leigeb has the junior sitting t-5
th and the Northern Kentucky women's golf team t-4
th after the first round of the Charles Braun Intercollegiate in Evansville, Indiana.
Leigeb is seven shots off the lead, which currently held by Evansville's Kayla Katterhenry. Last year's individual champion
Sarah Kellam is just one stroke back of Leigeb in eighth-place.
As a team, NKU (+37) trails Evansville by just seven strokes. The Norse are tied with former Atlantic Sun foe Lipscomb in fourth, three shots behind Butler and two away from Indiana State.
MacKenzie Laumann joined Kellam and Leigeb with a countable score of 82 (+10). She is t-17
th.
Tara Clark shot an 84 and
Ryleigh Waltz carded an 85 to round out Northern Kentucky's quintet.
Shelby Power led a trio of Norse competing as individuals. Power was 11-over for the day.
Mimi Cheepborisut carded an 85 and
Taylor Schwarz an 88.
Action resumes Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.
Norse Notes- Leigeb has now led NKU in scoring in five of the team's 14 rounds this season.
- After finishing second in this event last season, the Norse are within striking distance again this year.
