SPRING, Texas – Carding a second-straight 298 as a team helped the Northern Kentucky men's golf team climb one spot to finish ninth in the inaugural Colin Montgomery Invitational hosted by Houston Baptist.
The Norse opened the tourney with rounds of 301-298 on Monday and closed with another 298 Tuesday.
Clayton Portz earned a top-10 finish after shooting even-par in the final round. His one-over par total through the 54-hole event put him in a tie for 10
th. The senior has now finished in the top-10 four times this year in seven tournaments played. He also has shot par or better in 8-of-18 rounds.
Logam Gamm (+2),
Jacob Brinker (+4) and
Jacob Poore (+4) also carded countable scores in the final round.
Matt Weatherill finished with rounds of 75-74-73 to close at six-over playing as an individual.
The Norse will be back in action with consecutive events in Jacksonville, Florida, from March 7-10. Butler hosts both the Benbow Invitational and Bulldog Florida Invitational over spring break.
