CINCINNATI, Ohio- The Northern Kentucky University women's track and field team competed at the Mount St. Joseph University Invitational on Saturday taking first place (238 points) overall in the team meet.
 
In the 100m, Jordan Hauck took first place for 10 points in a time of 12.95. BriAuna Keys and Hannah Thomas placed second (eight points) and third (six points), respectively, with Keys clocking a time of 58.01 with Thomas checking in at 1:00.65.
 
Four Norse scored points in the 800m. Olivia Gosseling (2:25.17) and Jaylah Howell (2:28.79) placed second and third for eight and six points respectively. Jaci Combs (2:30.64) and Alicia Fallrod (2:35.15) placed fourth and fifth for four and three points, respectively. In the 1,500m, Rylee Tanner placed second in a time of 4:55.29 notching eight points.
 
NKU took the top-three spots in the 100m hurdles with Shay Lafollette topping the podium in first place (10 points) with a time of 15.80. Emily Grubb (16.32) and Kaylia Carper (16.59) took second and third for eight and six points respectively. Katie Zembrote took first (10 points) in the 400m hurdle in a time 1:06.72. In the 3,000m steeplechase, Kimmy Wolf (11:56.13) and Hannah Tobler (11:56.33) placed first and second for 10 and eight points, respectively.
 
In relay competition, the Norse took first in the 4 x 100m with the team of Carper, Hauck DeMondrea Starns and Jordan Horning clocking a time of 50.45 scoring 10 points. In the 4 x 400m relay the squad of Shelley Menifee, Nicole Riveron, Keys and Zembrote finished first in a time of 4:10.11 for an additional 10 points.
 
Alyssa Frye claimed first in the high jump for 10 points clearing 1.53m (5'.25"). The Norse tallied 27 points in the long jump with Starnes taking first for 10 points at 5,75m (18'3.25") with Emily Grubb taking second for eight points at 5.44m (17'10.25"). Carper (5.13m, 16'10") and LaFollette 4.92m (16'1.75") took fourth and fifth for five and four points, respectively. In the tiple jump, Starnes grabbed 10 first place points with a leap of 11.25m (37'.25").
 
Ashley Brown took first place (10 points) in the shot put with a mark of 12.99m (42'7.5"). In the discus, Erin Sherrer was the top-Norse takng first at 39.50m (129'7") for 10 points. Brown took second for eight points at 36.38m (119'4") with Abbie Lukens taking fifth for four points at 32.42m (106'4"). Sherrer (42.06m, 138'; first place, 10 points), Brown (40.61m, 133'3"; second place, eight points) and Lukens (39.85m, 130'9"; third place, six points) finished in order first through third for a combined 24 team points.
 
The Norse return to action at the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational hosted by Louisville April 22-23.
