Hofmeyer scored 1,208 career points during his career, but he is best remembered for his last-second basket that gave NKU a stunning 59-58 upset over Xavier on Jan. 14, 1978. Hofmeyer tipped in a shot at the buzzer as NKU defeated a Division I opponent for the first time in history. He also helped NKU post a 20-8 record that same season and advance to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time in the program's history. Hofmeyer averaged 12.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game during his NKU career.
