NKU's Kim Nemcek collected 20 kills against Newberry
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. –
Kim Nemcek collected 20 kills and 16 digs as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team posted a 21-25, 25-19, 25-20, 27-25 win over Newberry (S.C.) on Saturday at the Tusculum Fall Classic.
NKU concluded the two-day tournament by dropping a 25-23, 17-25, 25-23, 25-20 decision to host Tusculum. The Norse finished with a 3-1 record in the season-opening event.
Nemcek, a junior middle hitter from Geneva, Ill., added three service aces against Newberry. Freshman setter
Jenna Schreiver, a Notre Dame Academy graduate, recorded a double with 46 assists and 15 digs.

Chelsea Clark finished with 25 digs and two service aces for NKU.
Noelle Peterson and
Sarah Drennen each added eight kills for the Norse, who attacked at a .169 clip for the match.
In the nightcap against Tusculum, NKU hit .124 for the match, including .062 in the fourth set. Peterson led NKU with 14 kills, while Nemcek finished with 13 kills.
Tusculum hit .202 for the match and won the battle of digs by a 49-42 count. The Pioneers hit .440 in the third set to pull out a 25-23 win and captured the match by winning the fourth set, 25-20.
NKU returns to action next weekend at the North Alabama Classic in Florence, Ala. The Norse meet Christian Brothers and Truman State on Friday.
NKU closes out the event Saturday with matches against North Alabama and California (Pa.).
