HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The streak of home perfection against Kentucky Wesleyan remained intact Thursday night as the Northern Kentucky University women's basketball team coasted to a 51-42 victory against the visiting Panthers.
Casse Mogan scored 21 points for NKU, which is now 27-0 all-time in home games against Kentucky Wesleyan.
Brandi Rayburn added 11 points as the Norse won their third straight game and improved to 12-6 overall, 6-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Sadie Bowling grabbed 11 rebounds for NKU, which upped its lead in the all-time series against Kentucky Wesleyan to 50-5. The Norse held Kentucky Wesleyan (10-8 overall, 3-6 GLVC) to 34.8 percent shooting from the field.
NKU also used a 9-0 run early in the second half to build a 17-point lead (37-20) and was never threatened. Mogan converted a pair of baskets to fuel that spurt.
Rachel Lantry added eight points and six rebounds for NKU, which shot 42.9 percent from the field. The Norse won the rebounding battle by a 35-26 count and were 12-for-14 at the free-throw line.
Mogan, a sophomore guard, has scored in double figures in all 18 games this season. She leads the Norse in scoring at 17.7 points per game, which ranks No. 2 in the GLVC. Mogan netted 11 points in the first half as NKU ran out to a 28-18 lead at the break.
NKU plays host to in-state rival Bellarmine at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. NKU also will hold a special “Break the Bank” promotion in which all upper-level seats are $1 this Saturday.
