SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The winning streak is now at five for the Northern Kentucky University women's basketball team, which posted a 77-58 victory at Illinois-Springfield on Thursday night.

Brandi Rayburn poured in 23 points for NKU, which improved to 14-6 overall, 8-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Rayburn finished 10-for-15 from the field as the Norse rolled over the Prairie Stars in the first meeting between the two programs.

Sadie Bowling added 17 points as NKU extended its winning streak to a season-high five games. Casse Mogan finished with 11 points and has scored in double figures in all 20 games this season.

Illinois-Springfield – which has now lost 15 consecutive games - dropped to 2-17 overall, 0-12 in the GLVC. The Prairie Stars are in their first season as a member of the GLVC.

NKU built a 41-24 lead at halftime by shooting 55.2 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes. Rayburn scored 11 first-half points, while Bowling and Mogan each added nine.

A basket by Mogan gave NKU a 50-28 lead with 15:28 remaining in the game, and the Norse cruised to the easy GLVC road win. Rayburn buried all three of her 3-point attempts Thursday night, while teammate Jessie Carmack made a trio of 3-pointers for her nine points.

Whitney Levering grabbed a team-leading nine rebounds for NKU, which won the battle of the boards by a 36-29 margin. Rachel Lantry dished out six assists, while Mogan collected five steals. Illinois-Springfield committed 20 turnovers, compared to 12 by NKU.

NKU concludes the two-game road trip Saturday by meeting Saint Joseph's at 2 p.m.
