HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University volleyball team attacked at a .431 clip Tuesday night and coasted to a 25-12, 25-16, 25-12 victory against West Virginia State in Regents Hall.
Shelby Buschur finished with 11 kills and hit .500 for NKU, which improved to 5-5 overall.
Jenna Schreiver directed the Norse offense for the first two sets and dished out 24 assists.
Kelly Morrissey set for NKU during the final stanza and collected nine assists.
NKU served up 14 aces for the match, including four each by Buschur and Morrissey.
Kylee Tarantino served up three aces for the Norse, while Schreiver finished with two.
Noelle Peterson added eight kills and a .312 hitting percentage as NKU improved to 6-0 all-time against West Virginia State. The Yellow Jackets (0-9) hit just .115 for the match.
Sarah Drennen converted all five of her attacks and added a service ace.
Katie Sommer added four kills and attacked at a .571 clip, and she also added three blocks.
Ari Eaton recorded five kills for the Norse and had two blocks, while
Anna Prickel led the defense with six digs.
NKU begins Great Lakes Valley Conference play Friday at 8 p.m. with a road match against Southern Indiana at Evansville, Ind. The Norse conclude the road trip Saturday with a match at Kentucky Wesleyan.
