Buschur finishes with 19 kills as NKU volleyball sweeps past Kentucky Wesleyan

OWENSBORO, Ky. – Shelby Buschur hammered down 19 kills and attacked at a .467 clip as the Northern Kentucky University volleyball team swept past Kentucky Wesleyan, 25-15, 25-12, 25-21, Saturday afternoon.

Noelle Peterson added nine kills and hit .412 for NKU, which improved to 6-6 overall, 1-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Jenna Schreiver directed the NKU offense and finished with 44 assists and six digs.

Katie Sommer collected six kills and attacked at a .667 clip for NKU, which is 40-0 all-time against Kentucky Wesleyan. NKU has not dropped a set to Kentucky Wesleyan since Oct. 23, 1993.

Kylee Tarantino served up three aces and finished with eight digs for NKU. The Norse hit .469 in the third set to hold off a Kentucky Wesleyan (3-4 overall, 0-2 GLVC) rally and wrap up the sweep.

NKU returns to action Tuesday night when Georgetown (Ky.) visits Regents Hall at 7 p.m.
