Hamlet scores career-high 19 points as NKU women roll to 65-34 victory over Maryville

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Sophomore guard Jaimie Hamlet scored a career-high 19 points as Northern Kentucky University posted a 65-34 win against Maryville on Thursday night.

Hamlet finished 7-for-10 from the field, including five 3-pointers, as NKU extended its winning streak to four games. The Glen Este High School graduate buried all four of her 3-point attempts for 12 points in the first half as NKU built a 26-15 lead.

Hamlet has now scored in double figures the past six games and averages 8.2 points per contest. She leads NKU in 3-pointers made with 22.

Casse Mogan added 14 points, seven rebounds and six steals for NKU, which improved to 12-3 overall, 6-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Mogan, a junior guard from Circleville, Ohio, now has 834 career points at NKU.

Sadie Bowling grabbed 11 rebounds and scored nine points as the Norse remained in sole possession of first place in the GLVC East Division standings. NKU scored the final six points of the first half to build a 26-15 lead, and the Norse opened the second half with a 12-0 run to extend their advantage to 38-15.

NKU held Maryville (5-9 overall, 0-6 GLVC) to 21.7 percent shooting from the field. The Norse won the rebounding battle by a 47-30 margin and forced 21 turnovers by the Saints.

Kelsey Simpson added eight points, while teammate Stephanie Hodges scored five points and pulled down five rebounds. NKU made just 39.7 percent of its shots from the field, but the Norse were 12-for-14 from the free-throw line.

NKU is now 2-0 all-time against Maryville, which is in its second season as a member of the GLVC.

NKU hits the road for a Saturday showdown at Wisconsin-Parkside. In their most recent meeting, Wisconsin-Parkside posted a 50-36 win against NKU in the second round of last season's GLVC Tournament in Somers, Wis. The 36 points were the fewest ever scored by an NKU women's basketball team.

NKU holds a 25-7 lead in the all-time series against Wisconsin-Parkside, but the Norse are just 2-6 in their last eight trips to DeSimone Gymnasium.
