OWENSBORO, Ky. – The road struggles continued for the Northern Kentucky University women's basketball team Saturday during a 67-63 loss to Kentucky Wesleyan in the Owensboro Sportscenter.

Katie Behrens scored 17 points and made a pair of free throws with 6.3 seconds remaining to seal the victory for Kentucky Wesleyan, which improved to 11-6 overall, 5-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Panthers built a 10-point lead with 7:32 remaining in the game and held off a furious NKU comeback.

It marked Kentucky Wesleyan's first win against NKU since Feb. 21, 2008. NKU owns a 52-6 lead in the all-time series against Kentucky Wesleyan.

Casse Mogan scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead NKU, which lost its third consecutive road game and dropped to 12-6 overall, 6-4 in the GLVC. The Norse shot 50 percent from the field, including 58.4 percent in the second half.

Mogan, a junior guard from Circleville, Ohio, now has 891 career points and is No. 32 on the NKU all-time scoring list.

Amanda Harnist's basket with 7:32 left gave Kentucky Wesleyan a 55-45 lead, but NKU responded with an 11-2 run and cut the Panther advantage to 57-56 on a Mogan layup with 4:20 remaining. Kayla Thacker's jumper with 3:36 left tied the contest at 58-all, but Kristen Rowe countered with a basket to give Kentucky Wesleyan a 60-58 edge.

With less than a minute remaining and Kentucky Wesleyan clinging to a 62-61 lead, Rowe drained a 3-pointer to extend the Panther advantage to 65-61. Mogan answered with a basket to cut the Panther lead to 65-63, and NKU gained possession in the closing seconds with a chance to tie after Kendra Caldwell blocked a Kentucky Wesleyan shot.

Mogan, however, was called for an offensive foul with nine seconds remaining. Behrens was fouled and made both free throws to ice the victory. Karly Rhoads added 17 points for Kentucky Wesleyan, which shot 42.6 percent from the field and was 7-for-16 from 3-point range.

Thacker scored nine points for NKU, while teammate Sadie Bowling added eight points. Kelsey Simpson and Shanece Miller each scored seven points for NKU, which will play host to Saint Joseph's at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
