HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. –
Casse Mogan scored 18 points and collected four steals to lead Northern Kentucky University to a 65-45 win against Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday.
Jaimie Hamlet and
Kelsey Simpson each added 11 points for NKU, which improved to 11-3 overall, 5-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse held Missouri-St. Louis (6-8 overall, 1-5 GLVC) to 28.3 percent shooting from the field and won the rebounding battle by a 42-33 margin to extend their winning streak to three.
Mogan, a junior guard from Circleville, Ohio, also grabbed five rebounds. She netted 11 points in the second half and now has 820 points in her career to rank 35th on the all-time NKU scoring list.
Ellen Holton added six points and four blocked shots for NKU, which used a 14-3 run in the second half to turn a 32-28 lead into a 46-31 advantage. Simpson finished with three blocks and two assists for NKU, which is now 19-4 in the all-time series against Missouri-St. Louis.
Kendra Caldwell scored six points and grabbed six rebounds, while
Sadie Bowling pulled down eight rebounds.
Shanece Miller added seven rebounds off the bench in 19 minutes of action.
Stephanie Hodges scored nine points for NKU, which was 20-for-27 from the free-throw line. The Norse finished with 10 blocked shots and avenged last season's 78-75 road loss to Missouri-St. Louis.
Kelly Mitchell led Missouri-St. Louis with 12 points, while Caitlyn Moody scored 11. The Tritons were 7-for-24 from 3-point range and committed 18 turnovers.
NKU wraps up its three-game homestand Thursday when Maryville visits The Bank of Kentucky Center at 5:30 p.m.
