HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University men's basketball coach Dave Bezold has signed prep standout Jack Flournoy to a national letter of intent.

Flournoy, a native of Mt. Hope, W.Va., averaged 16.6 points per game last season for Woodberry Forest School in Virginia. The 6-foot-6 forward also averaged 7.1 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per contest and was named to the Virginia Prep League all-tournament team.

A versatile athlete who also dished out 2.8 assists per game last season, Flournoy received offers from West Virginia University, Marshall, Ohio and Delaware before an injury.

“Jack has a chance to be a very good player in our program,” Bezold said. “He has worked extremely hard to come back after an injury, and there is no doubt Jack could step in and make an impact for us.”

Flournoy joins a recruiting class that also includes five more incoming freshmen - Todd Johnson, Jacob Rossi, Justin Rossi, John Staley and Tyler White. Those five recruits signed in the fall.

NKU, which is making the transition to NCAA Division I status, begins play in the Atlantic Sun Conference next season.
