HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Drew McDonald and Lavone Holland II represented the Northern Kentucky men's basketball team on the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) 2017-18 Division I All-District Teams, as announced by the association Tuesday. McDonald earned District 12 first team status, while Holland was named to the second team.
 
The first-team all-district nod adds to a long list of accolades for McDonald, who is both a two-time All-Horizon League First Team and Horizon League All-Academic Team honoree. The junior forward is nearly averaging a double-double at 16.9 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. He has posted the 14th-most double-doubles in the NCAA this season, registering 17 on the year.
 
Holland was also a second-team all-Horizon League recipient. The senior guard is averaging 13.8 points, 4.5 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game, making him the only Horizon League player to average double-figure scoring and at least four assists and four rebounds. Holland was named the 2017 Horizon League Tournament MVP and all-tournament team member after leading the Norse to the championship, resulting in the program's first-ever NCAA Division I Tournament appearance in just its first season with active Division I status.
 
The duo has helped lead Northern Kentucky to a level of success never before seen by a team in its first two years with active Division I status. No other DI program has won a regular-season league championship, league tournament title and appeared in either the NCAA tournament or NIT tournament, with at least one of those appearances being in the NCAA tourney, in each of its first two years as active DI members.
 
Northern Kentucky faces Louisville at the KFC Yum! Center tonight in the first round of the NIT. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. The Norse are currently 22-9 on the season, which included a 15-3 mark in the Horizon League that resulted in a league championship and subsequent berth in the NIT.
