Matthew James

Before arriving to the Cincinnati area, James was an assistant coach at Heartland Community College in Normal, Illinois for two seasons. His guidance helped the Hawks to a 46-10 record and a Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) title in 2017. He led the Hawks infield to the second best fielding percentage in the country. He was also instrumental in coaching Charlie Harrigan, who currently plays at Miami University, to a Rawlings Gold Glove Award. Prior to NKU, James was the Director of Baseball Operations at Xavier University.

James played at Illinois for four years before he began his coaching career. As a starting pitcher and infielder for the Illini, he helped the program win the Big Ten Championship and make an NCAA Super Regional appearance in 2015.

James is now in his second year with the Norse overseeing the infielders and assisting with the hitters.
