Emergency Action Plans (PDF) | Athletic Training Education
The Sports Medicine Department is comprised of certified athletic trainers, team physicians, ancillary medical and non-medical providers, and athletic training students. NKU Sports Medicine is very proud of our close working relationship with our team physicians and our other providers. All student-athlete evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation will be done whether in-season or out-of-season by the Sports Medicine staff and our team physicians. The Sports Medicine staff is able to call the team physician's office or any of our providers' offices to get our student-athletes evaluated immediately and to facilitate test scheduling.

Visiting Athletic Trainers
Athletic Training Services
The athletic training facility serving the sport will be open approximately two (2) hours prior to competition and for approximately 45 minutes immediately after the competition. Each athletic training facility offers a variety of hot and cold modalities, hydrotherapy, electrical stimulation, and ultrasound.
A Northern Kentucky University certified athletic trainer will be on-site for all home athletic competitions. A physician will be in attendance or available for consultation at NKU home athletic events.
Water, ice bags, cups, and biohazard supplies will be provided on your sideline and in your locker room. Emergency supplies, including an AED, crutches, splints, spine board, and cervical collars will also be available should the need arise.
Teams Traveling Without a Certified Athletic Trainer
If your team is traveling without a certified athletic trainer, advance notification is appreciated. A written prescription from a certified athletic trainer is required for treatment other than ice and heat in such situations. In addition, Northern Kentucky University Sports Medicine personnel will be available to assist your team with its taping and/or wrapping needs, provided that student-athletes provide their own taping supplies. Please contact the host athletic trainer for your sport using the Sports Medicine Staff Directory or you can contact Molly Woods, Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine with any questions or to make special arrangements.
