Athletics Communications

MISSION
Northern Kentucky University's athletic communications office exists to both publicize and promote NKU Athletics locally, regionally, and nationally.

The Athletics Communications Department facilitates media coverage of the Norse. Athletics Communications is responsible for publicizing teams and student-athletes through press releases, game notes, media guides, press conferences, social media, and interaction with individual members of the media.

Offices are located in Albright Health Center. Please reference the staff directory for sport assignments and office locations.

MEDIA INFORMATION
INTERVIEWS: Interviews by media with Norse coaches and student-athletes are not only welcome, but encouraged. Every effort will be made to accommodate requests. 

As a general rule, student-athlete interviews will not be accommodated on game day prior to their contest. Select student-athletes and coaches will be available for post game comments and questions following a 10-minute cooling off period.

If interested in attending practice, please contact the athletics communications office ahead of time to ensure that practice is open to the media.

Phone and Zoom interviews are also available, as needed.

Under NO circumstances will contact information of student-athletes be provided.

MEDIA CONTACT LIST: Media may request to be placed on our email distribution list for Norse Athletics news. Please email the appropriate sport contact.

FOR MEN'S AND WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
CREDENTIALS: All requests for press, photo, and scout passes must be made through the athletic communications staff. Passes can be picked up prior to game day from the athletics communications contact or they will be available at the media entrance on the Northeast corner of Truist Arena prior to the start of the contest.

GAME SERVICES: Information, statistics and a small variety of refreshments will be available in the press room. Live in-game statistics are available via the schedule page of the select sport on NKUNorse.com. Statistics will also be provided during halftime and post-game, and are available via request during media timeouts of men's and women's basketball games.

GAME DAY INTERNET ACCESS: A limited number of high-speed ports are available on press row upon request. A wireless internet connection is available for media as well.

BASKETBALL POST-GAME INTERVIEW PROCEDURE: After every game, select NKU student-athletes and head coaches will conduct interviews in the press/interview room. Depending on media demand, the visiting coach may be brought into the press/interview room after the post-game "cooling off" period. Please direct all Northern Kentucky procedural questions for men's and women's basketball to Hunter Hurst. Visiting team interview requests should be made through the visiting team's media contact.

BASKETBALL MEDIA PARKING: Media with parking passes should park in the designated area of Lot O. Please access Lot O via the University Drive entrance (US-27 to Johns Hill Road to University Drive). All other media can park in the back loading dock lot.

TV COVERAGE: Parking for the broadcast/production truck(s) is in the back loading dock area. TV news/sports crews using "live shot" ENG vehicles must coordinate with the athletic communications office in advance. TV coverage of NKU Basketball (broadcasts or "live shots") and the reservation of parking space must also be cleared in advance through the athletic communications staff, who will put the crew in touch with the appropriate Truist Arena personnel.

VISITING RADIO: Visiting broadcast positions exist at Truist Arena, and can be made available at other venues upon request. Visiting radio crews MUST request credentials through their school's athletic communications office.

FOR MEN'S AND WOMEN'S SOCCER, VOLLEYBALL, BASEBALL, SOFTBALL AND TENNIS
CREDENTIALS: All requests for press, photo, and scout passes must be made through the athletic communications staff. Arrangements can be made with the athletic communications contact to pick up passes.

PARKING FOR CONTESTS OTHER THAN BASKETBALL: Parking for home soccer contests at the NKU Soccer Stadium will be in Lot O, adjacent to both the soccer complex and Truist Arena. For volleyball, baseball, softball, and tennis, parking is in the Kenton Garage. Please notify the appropriate sport contact if parking will be required and they will get you added to the pass list or make other parking arrangements.

GAME SERVICES FOR SPORTS OTHER THAN BASKETBALL: Pregame information will be available through the athletic communications contact. In-game statistics are available live via NKUNorse.com. Printed stats will be provided by request at halftime/intermission, post-game, and during media timeouts (if applicable).
