Truist Arena
Home to Norse Basketball, Truist Arena sits at the front entrance of Northern Kentucky University's Highland Heights, Ky., campus. Opened in 2008, the $60 million complex has laid a great foundation for NKU's future.
Truist Arena holds 9,400 seats for concerts and 8,427 for basketball games, while serving as a multipurpose arena for not only NKU but the surrounding community as well. The facility serves the Norse athletic teams with excellent strength and conditioning facilities, training areas, meeting rooms and beyond.
Truist Arena serves as one of the newest entertainment facilities in the greater Cincinnati area. The facility has hosted many concerts from artists including Jay Z, Blake Shelton, and Bob Dylan as well as other events like Cirque du Soleil, WWE Live, and comedian acts Larry The Cable Guy, Jeff Foxworthy, Dane Cook and many more.
In 2012, NKU hosted the NCAA Division II Men's Elite Eight basketball tournament, which saw Western Washington win its first ever national championship, defeating Montevallo (Ala.) in the championship game, which was televised nationally on CBS. Truist Arena also host prominent regional and national events like the KHSAA women's high school basketball tournament.Â
Truist Arena is also home to the Thomas J. Kearns Student-Athlete Academic Center, a dedicated area for study and tutoring for NKU's student-athletes. NKU's senior athletic administrators and strength and conditioning staff also keep their offices in the facility.
