OWENSBORO, Ky. - Jim Delaney scored a pair of goals Friday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University men's soccer team coasted to a 6-0 win at Kentucky Wesleyan.
Mike Jonca, Tommy Barrick, Kevin Donnelly and Alex Oeswein also added goals for NKU, which is ranked 13th nationally in the NCAA Division II poll. The Norse are 11-1-2 overall, 7-1-1 in the GLVC.
Jonca and Barrick netted goals in the opening 13 minutes to give NKU a 2-0 lead. Delaney later added a goal off a penalty kick to extend the Norse's advantage to 3-0 at halftime.
NKU tallied three more goals in the second half and improved to 24-4-3 all-time against Kentucky Wesleyan. The Panthers are 0-14 this season, including 0-9 in the GLVC.
NKU goalies Michael Lavric and Keith Kelly combined for the shutout and three saves. It marked the 299th win for the NKU men's soccer program.
The Norse will shoot for their 300th all-time win Sunday afternoon when they visit Bellarmine in Louisville, Ky.
