WILDER, Ky. - Steven Beattie and Braden Bishop each scored goals Sunday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University men's soccer team posted a 2-1 win over Indianapolis at the Town & Country Sports Complex.

NKU honored its four seniors - Eric Ashworth, Jim Delaney Dustin Downey and Tony Ray - and their families prior to the game. Those four players have helped the Norse emerge as one of the nation's top programs during their careers, and they capped the regular season on Sunday with a win.

Beattie gave NKU a 1-0 lead at the 26:52 mark by converting a penalty kick after he was fouled in the box. It was the 17th goal of the season for Beattie, a sophomore striker from Skerries, Ireland.

The Norse extended their lead to 2-0 at the 59:37 mark when Bishop netted his sixth goal of the season off an assist from Kevin Donnelly. Micah Uemura countered with a goal for Indianapolis at the 65:19 mark, but NKU's defense toughened and pulled out the victory.

NKU improved to 13-1-2 overall, 9-1-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse, ranked 11th nationally in the NCAA Division II poll, will play host to Missouri S&T next Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the first round of the GLVC Tournament at the Town & Country Sports Complex.

Rockhurst is the No. 1 seed in the eight-team GLVC Tournament, followed by second-seeded Lewis and third-seeded NKU. The GLVC Tournament semifinals and championship will be played at the site of the highest remaining seed Nov. 7-9.

NKU and Lewis each finished with 9-1-1 GLVC records, but the Flyers earned the No. 2 seed due to their win against fourth-seeded Drury.
