No. 11 NKU men's soccer drops 1-0 decision to Lewis on Friday

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Northern Kentucky University men's soccer team suffered a setback on Friday afternoon, falling to Great Lakes Valley Conference foe Lewis by a 1-0 score.

Nestor Hernandez provided the difference in the contest, scoring his seventh goal of the season in the 66th minute off an assist from Nathan Groesch. NKU could not find an answer, managing just one shot attempt after the Lewis goal.

The Norse were outshot in the contest, 14-8, with Steven Beattie taking five of NKU's eight shots. Michael Lavric made five saves for NKU, which is ranked 11th nationally in the NCAA Division II poll.

NKU dropped to 8-2-1 overall, 5-2 in the GLVC. Lewis improved to 6-3-1 overall, 5-3 in the GLVC.

The Norse close out the weekend road trip Sunday afternoon against Illinois-Springfield. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Eastern.
