HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University men's soccer team will honor its senior players on Friday before a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest against Maryville at the Town & Country Sports Complex in Wilder, Ky. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

The Norse (13-3-1, 10-2 GLVC) had a strong weekend, pulling off a 2-1 upset from then-No. 3 Drury and posting a 3-1 win over Missouri S&T in GLVC play. NKU, ranked 12th nationally, then lost at Carson-Newman, 2-1, on Wednesday night.

NKU will look to the twin-barrel attack of Steven Beattie and Braden Bishop, who have combined to score nine of the team's 12 goals over the last five games and almost half of the team's 42 goals on the season.

The team's five seniors – Alex Allison, Bishop, Chris Dobrowolski, Seth Eckerlin and Keith Kelly – will be honored in a pre-game ceremony.

A WORD ABOUT MARYVILLE: Dustin Allison's five goals leads the Saints, who have struggled in the first season in the GLVC. Maryville picked up its first win of the season on Oct. 11 in a 3-0 win over Southern Indiana, giving the team a 1-12-1 record entering Friday's contest, including a 1-9-1 mark in the GLVC. Friday will mark the first meeting between the Norse and the Saints.

RECORD-BREAKING PERFORMANCE: Steven Beattie scored three goals last weekend, giving him 48 on his career to set the all-time goal scoring mark at NKU. The offensive outpouring also earned him the GLVC Player of the Week award. Beattie, the 2009 Ron Lenz Division II National Player of the Year, has averaged just under one goal per game over the last two seasons combined.

REGIONAL RAMP-UP: NKU has pushed up to No. 2 in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region rankings this week thanks to its wins over Drury and Missouri S&T. Drury remains the top team in the region, while Ashland and Lewis round out the top four teams. The four highest ranked teams in the Midwest region at the end of the season will be invited to the NCAA Tournament.
