ASHLAND, Ohio – The Northern Kentucky University men's soccer team did the job defensively Thursday night, but the Norse failed to find the net during a scoreless draw against Ashland.
NKU took 12 shots on the evening, with five of those coming off the boot of
Braden Bishop, while Ashland managed 15 attempts. The disparity in the contest came in the fouls called, as NKU was whistled for 25 infractions to Ashland's 12.
Goalkeeper
Michael Lavric kept a clean sheet on the night, making two saves to extend his school-record shutout total to 18.
The result was a near repeat of last season's regular-season meeting, a 1-1 draw at Ashland. NKU later posted a 3-2 win against Ashland in the NCAA Division II Tournament.
NKU, which is ranked No. 2 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll, is now 6-0-1 on the season and has played three overtime games this season. The Norse have been unable to find victory in their last four trips to Ashland.
The Norse return to action on Sunday in a Great Lakes Valley Conference matinee at Indianapolis.
