Steven Beattie scored two goals and
Michael Holder added another to lead the Northern Kentucky University men's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over Illinois-Springfield on Friday night at the NKU Soccer Stadium.
Beattie's opening salvo in the third minute with assists from
Kevin Donnelly and
Michael Bartlett gave the Norse (7-0-2, 5-0-2 Great Lakes Valley Confernce) all the margin they needed. Beattie would strike again in the 67th minute to notch his eighth goal of the season.
Holder scored his eighth of the year off a
Mike Martin corner kick in the 34th minute.
Shawn Parker also got in the scoring mix in the second half, adding his first of the season on an assist from
Dakota Beerman in the 82nd minute.
NKU, ranked No. 4 in the NCAA Division II national poll, dominated the shot count, 25-1, and took 18 corner kicks on the night.
NKU concludes the home weekend on Sunday against Lewis. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
