HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. –
Michael Holder's goal at the 92:24 mark in overtime gave the Northern Kentucky University men's soccer team a 1-0 victory against Missouri S&T on Friday night.
Nicholas Chiarot picked up the assist on Holder's goal by placing a perfect cross into the box from around 35 yards out. Holder jumped and headed the ball past Missouri S&T goalie Pat McNamee into the back of the net, giving NKU the key Great Lakes Valley Conference win.
Holder, a freshman from Toronto, Ontario, now has nine goals this season. NKU finished with a 17-6 advantage in shot attempts and controlled the field most of the contest, but the Norse were unable to finish until Holder's winning shot in the first overtime.
NKU improved to 9-1-3 overall, 7-1-3 in the GLVC. The Norse are ranked No. 5 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll and No. 1 in the Midwest Region poll. Missouri S&T dropped to 7-3-2 overall, 7-2-2 in the GLVC.

Michael Lavric and
Ben Dorn combined for the NKU shutout. Lavric played 67 minutes before leaving due to an injury. Dorn played the final 25 minutes.
NKU plays host to Drury at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in its regular-season home finale. The Norse seniors will also be recognized prior to the contest.
