April Ehlers and the Norse are set for a Tuesday doubleheader against Tiffin.
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University softball team gets back to work on Tuesday with a non-conference doubleheader against Tiffin. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Tuesday's doubleheader can be heard live at nkunorse.com.
The twinbill opens a busy week for the Norse, who hit the road for a non-conference tilt at Truman State on Friday before closing out the week against Great Lakes Valley Conference newcomer Illinois-Springfield on Saturday.
The Norse (15-8, 9-2 GLVC) took sole possession of first place in the GLVC race this past weekend with a doubleheader sweep of Southern Indiana, 6-4 and 4-1.
Rose Broderick went 3-for-7 with a double and a pair of RBI in the doubleheader.
Emily Schwaeble pitched a gem in Game 2, giving up an unearned run on three hits with four strikeouts, improving her record to 5-0.
LAST SEASON AGAINST TIFFIN: The Norse swept a doubleheader at Tiffin last season, 4-3 and 17-1.
Ashley Gates had two home runs in the nightcap, tying NKU's then single-season record with 10 homers. NKU is 5-1 all-time against Tiffin and will host the Dragons for the first time on Tuesday.
UNFAMILIAR TERRITORY: This weekend the Norse face a pair of unfamiliar opponents. NKU last faced Truman State in 2003 and has never defeated the Lady Bulldogs (0-2). NKU has also never taken on Illinois-Springfield, which joined the GLVC after elevating its program to NCAA Division II from the NAIA.
WINNING WAYS: The Norse have found their stride, winning their last seven games and 11 of their last 13 contests. It is the longest winning streak for the team since the 2006 season, when the Norse rattled off 14 straight victories.
