HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University's Guillaume Berman used a dramatic 14-12 tiebreak victory in Set 1 to roll to a straight-set victory over Southern Indiana's Juan Quiroz in singles action on Friday. Unfortunately, it was the only victory NKU would see in an 8-1 loss.

With the win, Berman (8-1) improved his singles winning streak to eight matches.

The Norse (4-5, 1-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference East) kept things close during doubles play but could not pull out a match victory, with Lee Lonergan and Jimmy Caccamo falling 9-7 in the No. 3 flight while Berman and Lance Koetter took their No. 1 doubles match to a tiebreaker before falling, 7-2, to USI's Diego Gimenez and Joseph Boesing.

In singles action, Koetter fought his way even in the first set against USI's (14-3, 2-0 GLVC East) Gimenez, but fell in the tiebreaker, 11-9, before dropping the second set, 6-3.

NKU returns to the courts on Wednesday against cross-town rival Xavier.
