The NKU women's tennis played host to Xavier on Wednesday afternoon.

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University's
Michelle Schirmann cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Xavier's Kally Alkire in No. 3 singles action Wednesday, but the Musketeers took the match by an 8-1 score at the Joyce Yeager Tennis Complex.
Schirmann improved to 4-3 in singles competition this spring after posting the win. NKU is now 6-4 overall, while Xavier is 13-7.
The loss snapped a four-match winning streak for NKU, which meets Bellarmine on Friday in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at Louisville, Ky.
