HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University men's soccer team kicked off its exhibition schedule Friday night by playing the University of Cincinnati to a 1-1 tie at the NKU Soccer Stadium.
Jordan Grant scored a goal for NKU, which posted a 15-6-2 overall record last season and advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the fourth consecutive year. The Norse struck less than three minutes into the contest when Grant headed in a shot that was assisted by both
Anthony Meyer and
Michael Holder.
Cincinnati countered less than a minute later with a goal from Matt Bahner to tie the contest at 1-all. The defenses dominated play in the second half and neither team could find the back of the net.

NKU continues its exhibition slate Sunday by playing host to IUPUI at 2 p.m. The Norse conclude their preseason schedule Aug. 28 with another home exhibition contest against Centre at 6 p.m.
NKU begins the regular season Sept. 3 with a home contest against Findlay at 7:30 p.m. Two days later, the Norse open Great Lakes Valley Conference action by hosting Southern Indiana at the NKU Soccer Field at 2:30 p.m.
